Are you one of those people who loves analytics? I can think of several marketing communications professionals I personally know and admire, who absolutely live for analytics.
A dear friend of ours, Chris. L. Davis—Head of Marketing Automation at LeadPages (pictured above)—says that numbers (and knowing how to interpret them) are as important to your business as reading the Bible is to a Christian. I don’t know if that “clicked” for you, but when I first heard Davis explain analytics in this way, something definitely “clicked” for me.
As a PR professional, I’ve always loved measuring and tracking the effectiveness of digital communications. And today, I have a very special treat for you, free Instagram analytics! Brought to you by the fine folks at Union Metrics. (more…)
Such a fantastic time was had yesterday at the 2015 Orange County Business Journal’s Family Owned Business Awards. Chelsey and I have an affinity not only with small business owners but with family-owned businesses, as well, probably because our father has owned his own business since the early 1990s.
According to the Conway Center for Family Business, family-owned businesses account for 50% of the U.S. gross domestic product and makeup approximately 80% of all business enterprise. The 2015 Edelman TrustBarometer study found that consumers trust family businesses 30% more than they trust large corporations (at least in the industrialized world). (more…)
Without a doubt, each time I do speaking engagements for social media or specifically Instagram marketing, I get the inevitable question: Is there a tool that can help me preschedule posts?

Pageant re-creation of Edward Percy Moran’s “Betsy Ross Presenting the First American Flag to General George Washington.”
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Media Preview Night for Pageant of the Masters—an 82-year-old production based out of and born in Laguna Beach, CA—where famous works of art are recreated as “living pictures” using actual people.
If you’ve never been to a showing, first, let me preface this post by saying that seeing photos and reading about the event here do not do it justice.
Pageant of the Masters is an inexplicably cool program best experienced in-person. (more…)
Let me just say, this awards luncheon blew me away. It wasn’t because of the gorgeous Hotel Irvine ballroom, aglow with chandeliers and hundreds of people. Or the chic suits and secret service-like demeanor of some of the women and (surprisingly) men in attendance. The impression was made by a few common themes—themes that seem to keep popping up wherever I go, whatever events I attend, the past year. (more…)
Do you love Instagram filters? Well, we do too! And now there is even more to love. In honor of Instagram’s announcement of three new filters to its editing suite, we’ve compiled the Instagram Filter Cheat Sheet. So that you can identify the new names you will being seeing, and which filters get your photos the most likes and comments. Instagram also made an addition to hashtags that I am quite excited about. I’ve got all the details about the new filters and the hashtag addition in the post, below. (more…)
